At the time of great feasts and important events, the women of the patriarchal families of Abbruzzo's shepherds used to prepare sweet and savory specialties.

Only products available at home and produced in the fields were used: cheese and ricotta made from the milk of the sheep which during the summertime grazed on the plateau of Campo Imperatore, oil from the olive groves of the surrounding valleys, and almonds from Le Puglie.

From these genuine and natural ingredients, the housewives produced excellent cheese fiadoni, mostaccioli with almonds, biscuits with maize and many other specialties. These recipes were rediscovered by gathering information from the grandmothers of the town and thus, with great dedication and passion, "I sapori del borgo" reproduced these old recipes.
